Aerosmith – Crazy

About The Song

“Crazy” is a song by American hard rock band Aerosmith and written by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Desmond Child. It was the final single from their massively successful 1993 album Get a Grip, released in May 1994 by Geffen Records. “Crazy” peaked at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100, number three in Canada, and number one in Iceland for two weeks.
This song is about a guy whose girlfriend packs up her stuff and leaves, and just how much he misses her. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry wrote the song with Desmond Child, whose knack for coming up with a memorable chorus is often the difference between an album cut and a hit.
The trio had written “Crazy” in the late ’80s around the same time they wrote “Angel.” The songs were deemed too similar, so while “Angel” made the 1987 Permanent Vacation album, “Crazy” didn’t appear until two albums later on Get A Grip. Big ballads were good to Aerosmith, but the group had to ration them in order to retain its status as a hard rock powerhouse.
This won a Grammy in 1995 for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. It was Aerosmith’s third Grammy – they had previously won the same award for “Janie’s Got A Gun” and “Livin’ On The Edge,” and won it again in 1999 for “Pink.”
